Knurrix Terms of Use

As of: 30 October 2026. These terms apply to the Knurrix app (Android and iOS) and the account portal at knurrix.com. We have written them as simply as we can. Where the law gives you more rights than this text, the law applies.

This English version is a translation for your convenience. Where the two versions differ, the German version applies to the extent permitted by law.

1. Who we are

“We” and “us” in this text mean eMarkets Consulting GmbH. “You” are the person using Knurrix.

2. What these terms cover

(1) These terms govern the use of Knurrix between you and us. Any terms of your own do not apply.

(2) Knurrix is made for consumers who do dog sports, in particular tracking under the IGP and IFH rules. Trainers, clubs and others who use Knurrix professionally may use the app as well; the withdrawal rules (section 9) do not apply to them.

(3) If you buy a subscription through Google Play or the App Store, the terms of that store also apply to the purchase (see section 7).

3. Your account and how the contract is made

(1) Knurrix only works with an account. You sign in with your Google account or your Apple ID. There is no separate Knurrix password. You need internet access briefly for the first sign-in.

(2) Minimum age: 16. By signing in you confirm that you are at least 16 years old.

(3) How the contract is made: On the app's welcome screen you can read these terms and the privacy policy, tick the box and tap “Sign in with Google” or “Sign in with Apple”. Until then you can cancel at any time. When the sign-in succeeds, a free user agreement is made between you and us. Costs only arise if you later choose to buy a subscription yourself (section 7).

(4) Input errors are hardly possible here: your name and email come from Google or Apple. You can change them and all profile details in the app later.

(5) The contract languages are German and English. You can find these terms at any time in the app and at knurrix.com/en/terms, where you can save and print them. We will send you earlier versions on request.

(6) An account belongs to one person and cannot be transferred. Protect access to your Google or Apple account. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you, unless you are not responsible for the misuse.

(7) If you used the app without an account before, the data on your device will be linked to your account and transferred to our server when you sign in. Nothing is lost in the process.

4. What Knurrix does

(1) GPS tracking work: lay and record a track (articles, corners, arcs, food drops, cross tracks), measure the ageing time, record the tracking with your dog with voice prompts, then compare and evaluate track and tracking on the map. In addition: dog profiles, training diary, statistics, a knowledge section and quizzes.

(2) Offline first: The core functions (laying, tracking, viewing) also work without a connection. Every recording is saved on your device immediately. Chat, live viewing, AI, weather and loading new map areas need internet access.

(3) Everything is also stored with us: Everything you create in the app is automatically transferred to and stored on our server in Germany. This lets you get your data back on a new device and lets us find errors and improve the app. Details are in the privacy policy.

(4) Sharing and community: You can share tracks with contacts (to view, to work or to lay a cross track), chat, form groups and let others follow a tracking live. You decide what others see.

(5) Collar tracker: With the Knurrix tracker, the app can use your dog's position. The tracker as a device is governed by the terms under which you bought it.

(6) GPS accuracy: Knurrix shows positions as accurately as your device provides them – usually to within a few metres, but considerably less accurately under trees, near buildings or with weak reception. The evaluation is a training aid. It does not replace an assessment by a judge.

(7) Health records: The vaccination record, findings and other health details are a place for you to keep them. Knurrix does not give veterinary advice.

(8) Which features are included in which tier is shown on the app's Premium page. That overview is part of the description of the service.

5. AI features

(1) Some features use artificial intelligence, currently Google Gemini: for example the track analysis, the weekly report, questions to the Knurrix bot and the vaccination record photo recognition. Before you trigger them, the app tells you that the data is sent to Google via our server. Nothing is sent unless you trigger it; the automatic weather greeting on the home screen can be turned off in the settings.

(2) AI results can be wrong or incomplete. Check them before relying on them. The app only saves suggestions from the vaccination record recognition after you have checked and confirmed them.

(3) AI features may have daily or monthly limits. The app shows them.

6. 30-day trial

(1) From your first sign-in you can use Knurrix free of charge with all features for 30 days. You do not need to enter any payment details.

(2) The trial ends by itself. No subscription and no payment obligation arise if you do not buy anything. The app reminds you in good time before the end.

(3) The trial is available once per person. Creating several accounts just to extend the trial is not allowed.

7. Subscriptions

(1) After the trial you need one of two subscriptions to make new recordings:

These prices apply in Germany and include statutory VAT. In other countries the store shows the price in your currency. The price the store shows you before the purchase is the one that applies. (2) Purchase through the store: You buy subscriptions in the app through Google Play or the App Store. The store handles payment, invoicing and refunds. Depending on the store, the store is your contractual partner for the purchase; we remain responsible for the service in the app. The purchase is only complete once you confirm it in the store's payment window. (3) Term and renewal: A subscription runs for one month or one year from the purchase. It renews automatically for the same period at the price valid at that time unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before it ends. (4) Cancelling: You cancel in the subscription management of Google Play or of your Apple ID. The “Cancel subscription” button in the app takes you straight there. After cancelling you can keep using the subscription until the end of the paid period. Important: deleting your Knurrix account or uninstalling the app does not cancel the subscription. Please also cancel it in the store. (5) Switching: You can move from Basic to Full immediately; the store credits the remaining time. A move from Full to Basic takes effect at the end of the current period. (6) Restoring purchases: On a new device you get your subscription back with “Restore purchases” if you use the same store account. (7) Price changes: A price increase for a running subscription only applies if you expressly agree to it. We or the store will inform you beforehand. If you do not agree, the subscription ends at the end of the paid period. We pass on price reductions where the store allows it. (8) Free access: Anyone who buys a Knurrix collar tracker gets 12 months of Full on top, without a subscription; after that this access ends by itself at no cost. Testers from the development phase may receive permanent free access. There is no entitlement to such access. (9) Without internet access, your last known subscription status remains valid for up to 30 days. A running recording is never interrupted because of the subscription status.

8. After the trial without a subscription

(1) Without a subscription you can no longer record new tracks, trackings, cross tracks or walks after the trial.

(2) Your data stays yours: You can still view everything you have created. Data export, account deletion, settings and the purchase page are always available – with or without a subscription.

9. Right of withdrawal

(1) As a consumer you have a statutory right of withdrawal. The instructions below apply to the free user agreement with us. Instead, you can also simply delete your account in the app.

(2) Store subscriptions: For purchases through Google Play or the App Store, the easiest way to withdraw is through the store (Google Play: order history → “Report a problem”; Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com). You can also withdraw directly with us; the refund is then made through the store.

(3) If you asked for a paid subscription to start during the withdrawal period, you pay a proportionate amount for the time already used if you withdraw. The trial is free; this does not affect you during the trial.

Instructions on withdrawal

Right of withdrawal

You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period will expire after 14 days from the day of the conclusion of the contract.

To exercise the right of withdrawal, you must inform us (eMarkets Consulting GmbH, Pappelallee 78/79, 10437 Berlin, Germany, phone +49 30 2239 9516 52, email support@knurrix.com) of your decision to withdraw from this contract by an unequivocal statement (e.g. a letter sent by post or e-mail). You may use the attached model withdrawal form, but it is not obligatory.

To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.

Effects of withdrawal

If you withdraw from this contract, we shall reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (with the exception of the supplementary costs resulting from your choice of a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us), without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract. We will carry out such reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.

If you requested to begin the performance of services during the withdrawal period, you shall pay us an amount which is in proportion to what has been provided until you have communicated us your withdrawal from this contract, in comparison with the full coverage of the contract.

10. Your obligations – fair play in the field and in the chat

(1) Other people's locations only with their consent: Do not secretly record anyone and do not share other people's locations or photos without their consent. Anyone watching a tracking live can see your position – only invite people you want to invite.

(2) In chats and groups: no insults, threats, harassment or hate speech, no illegal or pornographic content, no advertising or chain messages, no content of others without the right to use it. Whoever runs a group makes sure these rules are followed there.

(3) No misuse: Do not try to attack, overload or scrape the app, the server or other people's accounts, or to get around restrictions. No automated requests outside the app, no false information to obtain a trial, free access or subscriptions.

(4) You are responsible in the field: Knurrix does not check whether you may enter a field. Get permission from landowners and hunting tenants and respect nature protection, breeding seasons, leash rules and road traffic. Do not use your phone while driving. Your dog's welfare comes before any recording.

11. Reporting content, suspensions

(1) You can report illegal content or breaches of section 10 to us at any time: by email to support@knurrix.com [or via the in-app report function – check whether available]. This address is also our single point of contact for users and authorities under the Digital Services Act; we reply in German and English.

(2) We review reports promptly and carefully. If there is a breach, we may remove content, restrict features or suspend an account temporarily or permanently. We choose the mildest measure that is sufficient, take your legitimate interests into account and inform you of our decision with reasons. You can object to it with us.

(3) Even if your account is suspended, you can export your data and delete your account. If an account is suspended permanently because of a breach, we refund paid time only where the law requires it.

12. Your content

(1) What you create – tracks, trackings, photos, voice notes, diary entries, chat messages – remains yours. You only grant us the simple, non-transferable rights we need to run Knurrix: to store it, back it up, restore it to your devices, display it in the app, convert it technically (e.g. shrink photos, transcribe voice notes) and pass it on to the people you share something with. In addition, there is the internal analysis described in the privacy policy. We do not sell your content.

(2) These rights end when you delete the content or your account. What you have sent to others (e.g. chat messages, copies of shared tracks) may remain with them. Backup copies disappear when their retention period expires.

(3) You only upload content for which you have the necessary rights.

(4) The app itself, its texts and images, the Knurrix character, the voice prompts and the knowledge section belong to us or our licensors. You may use them in the app within these terms, but not copy, modify or distribute them.

13. Availability, updates and changes to the app

(1) We try to keep Knurrix available around the clock. Maintenance and disruptions at service providers or in the network may cause short outages; the offline features are not affected.

(2) We provide the updates needed to keep Knurrix in conformity with the contract and secure. Many updates are loaded by the app itself at start-up; some need to come from the store. If you do not install an update offered to you, we are not liable for defects that result solely from that.

(3) We keep developing Knurrix. We may change features if there is a valid reason – such as new technology, security, changed store rules, legal requirements or new examination rules – and this causes you no additional costs. If a change affects your use more than insignificantly, we will inform you in good time beforehand. You can then end your subscription free of charge within 30 days of the change; we will refund paid time not yet used on a pro-rata basis.

14. Defects

The statutory rights for defects in digital products apply (§§ 327 et seq. of the German Civil Code, BGB). The best way to report errors is the feedback function in the app or support@knurrix.com.

15. Liability

(1) We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the German Product Liability Act, for fraudulently concealed defects and where we have given a guarantee.

(2) For slight negligence we are only liable if we breach an essential contractual obligation – that is, an obligation whose fulfilment makes the use of Knurrix possible in the first place and on which you may rely. Liability is then limited to the typical damage foreseeable when the contract was made.

(3) Otherwise our liability for slight negligence is excluded. This also applies to our employees and agents.

(4) Dog sports and training in the field are your own responsibility (see section 4 (6) and section 10 (4)). Paragraph 1 remains unaffected.

16. Term and end of the user agreement

(1) The user agreement runs for an indefinite period.

(2) You can leave at any time: Delete your account in the app (Account → “Delete account”). We then delete your data on our server as described in the privacy policy. Export anything you want to keep beforehand. You also need to cancel a store subscription in the store (section 7 (4)).

(3) We may terminate the free user agreement with four weeks' notice, and a running subscription at the earliest at the end of the paid period. If we discontinue Knurrix altogether, we will announce it at least three months in advance, give you the opportunity to export your data and refund paid time that can no longer be used on a pro-rata basis.

(4) The right of both parties to terminate for good cause remains unaffected – for us, for example, in the case of serious or repeated breaches of section 10.

17. Changes to these terms

(1) We adapt these terms when the app, the stores or the law change. We announce a new version in the app at least six weeks before it takes effect and explain what changes.

(2) Changes to price, term or the core of the service only apply with your express consent. For other changes, if you do not agree, you can object until the changes take effect and end the contract free of charge; you can use a running subscription until it ends under the previous terms.

18. Privacy

How we handle your data is described in the privacy policy in the app and at api.knurrix.com/datenschutz?lang=en.

19. Applicable law and dispute resolution

(1) German law applies. If you are a consumer and habitually resident in another country, you keep the protection of the mandatory provisions of that country.

(2) If both parties are merchants, the place of jurisdiction is Berlin. For consumers, the statutory places of jurisdiction apply.

(3) We are neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board. If there is a problem, just write to us at support@knurrix.com – we will look for a solution together.

20. Additional terms for Apple devices

If you downloaded Knurrix from the App Store, the following also applies: (1) These terms are concluded between you and us only, not with Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for the app and its content. (2) You may use the app on Apple devices that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules of the Apple Media Services Terms (including Family Sharing, where offered). This licence is non-transferable. (3) We provide maintenance and support. Apple has no obligation to do so. (4) If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app. Your statutory rights against us remain unaffected. (5) We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app – for example product liability claims, claims that the app fails to conform to legal or regulatory requirements, or claims under consumer protection law. This also applies to third-party claims that the app infringes their intellectual property rights. (6) You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. (7) When using the app you comply with applicable third-party terms, such as Apple's terms for Sign in with Apple. (8) Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
