Field lab · Anonymised practice data

What real tracks reveal about GPS and training data.

Knurrix is not developed with demo routes. These figures come from an anonymised internal database snapshot taken on 28 August 2026. They describe the field test, not the entire tracking community or guaranteed device performance.

01

The typical track measures in the hundreds of metres.

The median stored track was 190 metres long. One quarter measured no more than 91 metres and three quarters no more than 339 metres. The median track contained three corners, three articles and 335 GPS points.

  • Median length: 190 metres
  • Middle 50 per cent: 91 to 339 metres
  • Median: 3 corners · 3 articles · 335 points
02

GPS accuracy needs an honest label.

For 97.9 per cent of the 84,824 points, devices reported an estimated accuracy of five metres or better; the median was three metres. This is the device-reported GNSS estimate, not a comparison with a surveyed reference line, so it is not a guarantee of true positional error.

  • 84,824 points in the evaluated dataset
  • 97.9 per cent reported at 5 metres or better
  • A device estimate is not surveyed ground truth
03

Raw data is retained and reports remain anonymous.

Knurrix does not rewrite stored GPS fixes. Display filters and derived distances are calculated separately. This report uses aggregate figures only, without names, accounts, coordinates, health data or support content.

  • Never rewrite raw fixes
  • Keep calculations separate from originals
  • Publish sufficiently aggregated values only

Frequently asked questions

Good to know.

Are 142 tracks a scientific study?

No. This is an internal field-test snapshot. It shows the material used to develop Knurrix, but cannot support universal claims about every dog, device or terrain.

Why are no maps shown?

Exact training locations and private tracks belong to users. Public reports therefore use approved examples or sufficiently aggregated figures only.

Will this report be updated?

Yes, but not live. Each new snapshot receives its own review date so that figures remain traceable rather than changing silently.
