Working the track

Compare the laid track with the dog’s search path.

Turn a laid track into a training session you can understand: Knurrix supports the approach to the scent pad, the search and the review afterwards.

01

Approach the scent pad calmly.

Confirm the dog and current conditions before the search. Approach mode helps you find the saved start without revealing the full track in advance.

  • Dog assigned to this search
  • Distance to the saved scent pad
  • Weather and ground condition at search time
02

Capture the complete search.

Knurrix records a separate search path. Indicated and missed articles, plus observations at corners, stay attached to the session.

  • Pause and resume
  • Article indicated or missed
  • Ratings and training observations
03

See more than a line on a map.

Afterwards, Knurrix overlays the search path and laid track. The configured line length is considered when estimating the dog’s position.

  • Average and maximum deviation
  • Pace and time for each leg
  • Behaviour at corners and articles

Frequently asked questions

Good to know.

Can several dogs work the same track at once?

No. Each search belongs to exactly one dog. Additional training attempts are recorded as separate searches.

Does the handler see the whole route beforehand?

A shared track does not have to reveal its route in advance, allowing realistic training or trial simulation.

How is the dog’s position estimated?

Knurrix uses the selected line length as an offset from the handler’s GPS position. It is a transparent estimate, not centimetre-accurate measurement.
