Rules explained · IGP tracking
Each IGP level changes more than distance and ageing time. The tracklayer, design and working time also develop. This overview follows the 2025 FCI regulations; always check national provisions and later amendments as well.
The handler-laid track has at least 300 paces, three legs, two approximately right-angle corners and three articles. It ages for at least 20 minutes and has a 15-minute working limit. The tracking line is five metres long.
At IGP 2, another person lays a track of at least 400 paces. It retains three legs, two approximately right-angle corners and three articles. Ageing rises to at least 30 minutes and the dog works on a ten-metre line.
IGP 3 requires a track of at least 600 paces laid by another person, with five legs, four approximately right-angle corners and three articles. It ages for at least 60 minutes and has a 20-minute working limit.
